  • The Artist

Hilary Tjapaltjarri was born about 1941 at Mintjilpirri near Kintore in the Northern Territory.  Hilary worked as a stockman for many years and became interested in Painting when he saw the Papunya Tula Artists painting in 1970. It wasn't until 1985 that Hilary began painting regularly for the Papunya Tula Artists. In recent years Hilary has donated his work to help provide dialysis services to the Western Desert so that his people are able to return to their families and country and are still able to receive treatment.
