Hilary Tjapaltjarri is a Pintupi man born about 1941 at Mintjilpirri, south west of Kintore in the Northern Territory. His family lived for a time a Hassts Bluff, and Hilary also lived with Turkey Tolson's family in Hassts Bluff. He worked as a stockman for many years, it was not until 1985 that Hilary began painting for Papunya Tula Artists.
This painting depicts designs associated with the swamp site of Nginkulwalunya near the Kintore community. At this site the men camped by the soakage before travelling south.
