Kukula is a young Luritja woman who has been working from the studio at Bindi since 2002. In recent years she has started painting the rocky outcrops that form ridge lines beside the Community of Papunya, with mobs of Red Tailed Black Cockatoos soaring across the outback sky.

Red Tailed Black Cockatoos are usually found in eucalyptus woodlands and are famously long lived, up to 45 years old. Generally these birds are rather shy of humans, however hand-reared birds are able to learn a few words.
