ABOUT

Aboriginal Art UK was founded by Nadia Phillips in 2010. Originally from Sydney, Nadia’s lifelong passion for design, textiles, and cultural heritage shaped a career that began with dealing in antique textiles, later expanding into pre-Columbian works.
During a period living in Florence and studying the history of art, Nadia developed a deeper appreciation for the visual storytelling and symbolism of her homeland’s Indigenous cultures. This inspired her to explore contemporary Aboriginal art and its evolution within Australia’s vibrant art landscape.
On one of her visits home, Nadia joined an art dealer on a journey through remote outback communities, where she had the unique opportunity to meet artists and acquire works directly from Aboriginal-owned art centres. This experience laid the foundation for Aboriginal Art UK’s philosophy: to source ethically and work in close partnership with community-owned organisations that support artists and preserve cultural traditions.
As her personal collection grew, friends and collectors began seeking Nadia’s expertise to curate their own. Recognising a growing appreciation for Aboriginal art in the UK, she established Aboriginal Art UK as a gallery dedicated to showcasing authentic, high-quality works from Central Desert, Western Australian, and Northern Territory art communities.
Today, Nadia continues to visit Australia regularly, maintaining direct relationships with artists and art centres. Her extensive knowledge allows her to source artworks suited to all budgets - from first-time buyers to seasoned collectors - while ensuring each piece is authentic, responsibly acquired, and representative of Australia’s rich Indigenous heritage.
