PURPLE HOUSE: Providing dialysis in the most remote parts of Australia

Aboriginal Art is intrinsically linked to Aboriginal Communities, and there are are major health challenges in those communities. On our visits to Australia we became aware of the important work of Purple House and decided in our small way to help. We aim to raise money to donate to their programs to help their vital projects continue and grow.

'Remote Indigenous people in Central Australia are 15 to 30 times more likely to suffer from kidney disease caused by a wide variety of factors. Families must move off their country and go to Alice Springs for dialysis treatment. This means that communities are left without elder leadership, families are broken up and culture is weakened. Patients suffer from isolation and depression, restricted by a dialysis machine for their foreseeable future. Purple House's aim is to improve the lives of people who have kidney disease by providing dialysis services and health education out in remote communities so that families and culture can remain strong.'
