This week saw the opening of the landmark Emily Kam Kngwarray exhibition at Tate Modern. A collaboration between Tate and the National Gallery of Australia, this is the first large-scale presentation of Kngwarray's work ever held in Europe and a celebration of her extraordinary career as one of Australia's greatest artists.

We were lucky to attend a preview, with a guided tour by curators Kelli Cole and Kimberley Moulton. The Tate has brought together extraordinary examples of Kngwarray's work held in private collections (such as actor Steve Martin's) and museums across the globe.

Running until the 11 January 2026, it is definitely worth a visit. For those who can't get there in person, Katy Hessel is taken on a tour with curator Kelli Cole in the latest episode of 'Great Women Artists'.

Kngwarray's work is also on show at Pace Gallery London, and Unit London, for collectors who have seen the Tate exhibition and are inspired to take home some of her art...
